Unlike the two poor reviews on here which are untrue, there is no gap from zippers as they zip together toward each other and they don’t come with steaks to stick in the ground, it’s a hammock people. The thing works as advertised, the mosquito net stays off of your face and takes less than a minute to set up. The straps don’t tear tree bark and the hammock gives you plenty of room to wiggle around in. I’ve used this thing over the summer and slept in it over 25 times and have had no issues with rips or tears.
Let's just say I'm a fan. Today was a beautiful day so we went to the park to test out our hammock for a camping trip we scheduled later in the year. We found a quiet location in the park that had two trees located perfectly near each other to hang the hammock. The hammock easily comes out of its bag. The bag is actually attached to the hammock, so you will never lose it! We unwound the 2 meter rope securely fastened it around the trees and to the carabiners attached to the hammock. Be careful! The rope that is attached to the carabiners is NOT meant to be unwound! Also always double check that all knots and carabiners are securely fastened and tight! Within a few minutes the hammock was up and I was in it reading a book, while my family member took the pups for a walk. Very comfortable. After we spent a nice day at the park, using the directions listed on the Giravo page, we easily folded the hammock back up and into the pouch it went. It wasn't very buggy here today, however it was nice having a bit of shade. I could see a few naps occurring within this hammock! Very cool!
Upon receiving the Hammock today I was thoroughly impressed. Very cheap for a hammock with a bug net is a steal, especially if the product holds up. I haven't got the chance to hang it yet, but just from inspecting it out of the bag, the stitching is very clean, the product is super lightweight and takes up very little of my pack. I love that this hammock didn't come with a rain fly like some other hammock/bug net combos. Being a low price, it really allows you to search for a very nice rain fly and keep your sleeping setup under $100. I'm planning a winter hammock trip in a week and I'm going to take this for a test run. The straps and carabiners are VERY generic and I would probably suggest an upgrade, but what can you expect? They cant give you the best of the best for $20, so no worries there. Thank you Giravo!
I bought this Hammock with a little hesitation because I am 185lb and not sure if it could hold me safely. After I set it up (only a couple of minutes), my kid and my wife both tried and said it was so comfortable. Then, I tried it, it held me very well and I felt really relax on it. The mosquito net is a plus. I highly recommend this product.
It finally stopped raining long enough to set this up for a trial run in the yard and my six year old has already asked, "can I take this with me when I move out??" I guess that's a win! The kids love the den-like atmosphere, and it held an adult (6') and two kids with plenty of space to spare and no discernable sagging. The boys are looking forward to both sleeping in this on our next camping trip!
I incorrectly assumed the mosquito netting would be removable- this is not the case! There is a lightweight zipper along one edge of the hammock to allow space to crawl in, but leaving the netting home for weight savings isn't an option. (You can flip it upside down and like in the hammock with the netting dangling below you if you want more airflow and don't need the bug protection.
There is a triple row of chain stitching along each end to secure the hanging apparatus.
