Wow wow wow.
I have very large, very old double pane windows in my apartment. There were many obstacles to cleaning them: there are child- safe bars on the windows, the windows only open about 18 inches, there is a screen on the outside, and of course, they don't have a release to allow them to hinge inward.
I just got this in the mail today and cleaned my two living room windows. 1) it absolutely worked on what I had resigned myself to accept as an impossible task 2) It took less time than it would have taken to clean them, even just the inside, with windex and newspaper 3) the windows are very clean 4) it was fun to use
I second the recommendations to soak the cleaning heads thoroughly in soapy water before using (that made them less likely to get stuck and then pull apart), to follow the recommended cleaning patterns in the instruction "manual", and to be careful to not get your fingers stick between the magnets.
First impression...these are waaaay smaller than I thought, so it takes longer than I anticipated to do the job for something like big apartment windows. That said, cool product. I have double sided glass so I got the double sided version and it worked very well once you get the motion down to keep the two sides together, and used a bucket with white vinegar and water. It's not a perfect system, takes a little practice to get the motion down to keep them together, but my windows look great so it did the trick. And you don't have to schedule and pay for a window cleaner every time my windows get junked up which is awesome. This will pay for itself on the first cleaning.
I was skeptical at best, but I didn’t have a choice. My windows are impossible to reach by ground and do not pivot in, so I bought this product thinking, well it will be a little cleaner anyway.. BOY was I wrong! This product is AMAZING! Easy to use, no streaks ( I bought the companion liquid concentrate) and no wipes needed. It cleans AND squeegees all in one motion! I couldn’t believe how effectively it worked! The only caveat I’ll say is one that has been said but bears repeating: beware of the magnet! It is powerful! When you are rinsing the magnets keep them apart because they will snap together and if your finger is nearby, you could do some damage.. other than that I am super happy with this purchase! Also, I contacted the seller about buying replacement pads for the future and they immediately responded and are sending me some gratis! Now that’s service!
Couldn’t be happier! ENTHUSIASTIC FIVE STARS!!!
This is an amazing product. Saves so much time cleaning windows. I have a 2 story house, this tool made cleaning 2nd floor windows so much easier. I see a lot of negative comments, I think they are due to not knowing how to use the product. It does take a little practice to work well. Second is you will have to choose the right amount of magnet according to the window thickness. I know this product does not have the window thickness option, but other similar products do.
I tried these things when the condo association stopped washing the windows. The contractors want $100 or more for the job. This device is the best alternative I've found.
This one is light blue. I bought one like it earlier that is a darker, true blue. Get this one, the light blue one. The two parts are flat against each other; the darker blue components put the magnets at an angle. The problem with these devices is that they will uncouple. The flat design significantly lowers those incidents. Other advice:
Make sure the liquid-disbursing pad leads the squeegee blade. Go very, very slowly.
Do only 1/2 of the blade coverage with each pass. (Horizontal seems better than vertical for me.)
If the outside component "jerks" or hesitates, try adding a wetting agent. And/or more detergent.
I drilled a hole on the inside piece and added a safety cord so neither side will cause a hazard. Recommended.
